SHORTS FROM SPAIN ShortMetraje presents a screening of new short films from Spain. The screening is part of the series Spanish Cinema Now. GABARRON ON SCREEN A screening of Rachel Stella’s new film, “Gabarron in New York,” features the work of Spanish painter and sculptor Cristobal Gabarron. A panel discussion with Mr. Gabarron; the curator of the exhibit, Donald Kuspit, and others follows the screening. Tonight, 6:30 p.m., Chelsea Art Museum, 556 W. 22nd St. at Eleventh Avenue, 212-255-0719, free with museum admission, $6 general, $3 seniors and students, free for members and children 18 years and younger.
MORMON MOVIES The centerpiece of the Mormonsploitation Retrospective is “Trapped by the Mormons,” a campy new remake of the 1922 cult horror flick of the same name (tonight through Wednesday, 9 p.m.). The series also includes “Wagon Master,” a Mormon Western, and Jared Hess’s “Peluca,” a short precursor to “Napoleon Dynamite.” Tonight through Wednesday, December 21, Two Boots Pioneer Theater, 155 E. 3rd St. at Avenue A, 212-591-0434, $52 for all eight movies, $9 individual screenings, $6.50 members.
