EARLY AMERICA Each week in the rotating exhibit “History Made Here,” three new documents go on display. Up next: “The Constitution,” including a draft of the 64th essay from John Jay’s “The Federalist” (1787), which is one of only two surviving manuscripts of the Federalist papers; Rufus King’s 1787 notes on the closed proceedings of the Constitutional Convention, and John McKesson’s original minutes of the 1788 debates in the Convention of the State of New York on the adoption of the federal Constitution.
