STARRY JAZZ Jazz lovers can enjoy live music, tapas, and wine under the stars at the American Museum of Natural History. Pianist Monty Alexander and his trio are the next performers in the “Starry Night” series. LIVE ‘RADIO’ Kyp Malone of the Brooklyn band TV on the Radio performs with Bernie Worrell,a guitarist who joined Funkadelic in 1970 and then played with the Talking Heads throughout the 1980s. FRONTERA FLAMENCO The Spanish ensemble Son la Frontera makes its New York debut at the New York Flamenco Festival. The group was formed as a tribute to Diego del Gastor, the guitarist from Seville who was known for his melding of Latin sounds. The ensemble is comprised of Paul Rodriguez on the trés, a three-stringed steel-stringed guitar; Paco de Amparo on the Spanish guitar, vocalist Moi de Morón, and dancers Pepe Torres and Manuel Flores. BANG ON WATER Michael Gordon,acofounder of the music collective Bang on a Can, collaborates with filmmaker Bill Morrison to present “Who by Water.” Mr. Morrison’s film is projected onto a large scrim, behind which performs the the 35-piece Manhattan School of Music Contemporary Ensemble TACTUS, conducted by Patti Monson. MILHAUD’S SABBATH In 1947, the Rerform synagogue Temple Emanu-El of San Francisco commissioned the French composer Darius Milhaud to write an entire setting of the Sabbath service. The result, his Service Sacré, is intended to enhance prayer in the Jewish liturgy. St. Bartholomew’s Choir sings portions of the work as a choral evensong. Afterward, Samuel Adler of the Juilliard School gives a lecture on Milhaud. Sunday, 5 p.m., St. Bartholomew’s Church, Park Avenue at 51st Street, 212-378-0200, free.
ARTS & CRAFTS Modern jazz drummer Matt Wilson and his quartet, Arts and Crafts, perform at Carnegie Hall. The other members of the ensemble are pianist Larry Goldings, bassist Dennis Irwin, and trumpeter Terell Stafford (who also plays flugelhorn).
