HAPPY HOLIDAYS The East Village record label and club Nublu celebrate the holidays with a showcase featuring members of the Brazilian Girls, the Nublu Orchestra, and I Led 3 Lives. CARNEGIE WELCOMES The New York String Orchestra performs three pieces, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8, Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and “Made in America” by contemporary composer Joan Tower, which reinterprets the song “America the Beautiful.” Pianist Leon Fleisher is featured, and the orchestra is conducted by Jaime Laredo. OFF THE BEATEN PATH Avant-garde jazz guitarist Dave Weiner began performing at the age of 22 with Steve Vai’s band, playing over 350 with the band.
