After artist James Nares suffered an aneurysm, he lost his ability to work for long periods at a time. Unable to go to his studio, he developed new ways of making art at home: Using a strobe light, he set his digital camera on long exposure, moving through the light to capture the dizzying movement of the human body. The results are on display in “Chronophotographs.” Mr. Nares’s new paintings are also on display. Through January 7, Paul Kasmin Gallery, 511 W. 27th St. at Tenth Avenue, 212-563-4474, free.
