BACK STORY Photographs by Berlinbased photographer Tim Lehmacher are on display through this weekend in “Pli.” To make the works on display, Mr. Lehmacher photographed European statues from behind, then digitally erased all the background material. The exhibit title is taken from the French word for “fold,” a reference to the heavy, intricate folds of the sculpted garments. Through Friday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Daniel Cooney Fine Art, 511 W. 25th St., between Tenth and Eleventh avenues, no. 506, 212-255-8158, free.
STREET SCENES Harry Callahan used a long lens to snap photographs of unaware women in Chicago in 1950. The result was a series of tightly framed black-and-white photographs capturing private moments up close. “Women Lost in Thought” is now on view at Danziger Projects. Callahan died in 1999. Through Sunday, January 15, Wednesday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Danziger Projects, 521 W. 26th St., between Tenth and Eleventh avenues, 212-629-6778, free.
