END OF LIFE The New York City Bar Association presents a discussion about the legal, medical, and ethical issues involved in counseling patients and their families who face end-of-life decisions. The moderator, Jesse Margolin, joins a panel of experts to discuss living wills, the ability of children to make end-oflife decisions, and other related issues. ELLEN AGAIN Kaye Gibbons discusses her new novel, “The Life All Around Me by Ellen Foster” (Harcourt) with author Elissa Schappell. It is a follow up to her popular 1997 novel “Ellen Foster” (Vintage), the story of a plucky girl who winningly survived a tough childhood. Actress Andrea Marcovicci reads excerpts from Ms. Gibbons’s work. A wine reception follows. LE MONDE AT LA MAISON The prominent French editorial cartoonist Jean Plantu presents an illustrated lecture in French and English. He will discuss his political caricatures and wordplay, also expounding on the mission of the cartoonist and columnist. Mr. Plantu has worked for Le Monde since 1972.
