Democrats Blast ‘Disgrace’ Fetterman After Explosive News Report on Lack of Work Ethic, as Former Staffers Promise More Dirt

Fellow Democrats have the knives out for Senator John Fetterman after a lengthy Wall Street Journal report claimed Mr. Fetterman shows little interest in his job and ignores his constituents.Thursday’s article quoted unnamed former staffers that Mr. Fetterman consistently cancels meetings with constituents, skips hearings, and avoids many events in Pennsylvania. They criticized the freshman senator for focusing most of his time supporting Israel and making appearances on Fox News.A new X account claiming to represent Mr. Fetterman’s staffers says more is coming. On Friday they posted that they are “disgusted” with their former boss and they plan to release information about “exactly who their Senator is.” The group says they will share their stories — and screenshots of messages — when the Senate is back in session on September 14.Fellow Pennsylvania congressional Democrats are not waiting to unload on Mr. Fetterman. “John Fetterman is a disgrace. Our state deserves better than a lazy trust fund baby who is too lazy to do the job,” Congressman Brandan Boyle said in an X post.“There is a lot I could say about this report of John Fetterman’s pathetic behavior as a Senator,” Congressman Chris Deluzio said on X. “But between the laziness, disrespect, and willingness to carry water for a foreign government, it shows us something we already know: this man has no sense of duty.” Mr. Deluzio said Mr. Fetterman is not up for the Senate and claimed, “Pennsylvania will do something about it in 2028.”“This report is horrifying, but not new to many of us in PA. John barely showed up as LG and is constantly MIA as our Senator,” the Democratic National Committee Vice Chairman, State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta, said in an X post. “When he’s not on FOX cheerleading Trump & endless wars, he is attacking the very neighbors who gave him a chance. 2028 can’t come soon enough.”“John, @SenFettermanPA if there is a decent bone left in your body, just quit. It’s an insult to decent people in our state for you to treat them and the office this way.former Congressman Conor Lamb, who ran against Fetterman in the 2022 Democratic primary, said in an X post.Some left-wing Democrats have long criticized Mr. Fetterman for drifting right on some issues including his adamant support for Israel. Mr. Fetterman says he would abandon the Democratic party if it adopts language in its platform condemning Israel. “If our party ever becomes…the anti-Israel party, you know, that’s when I would leave.” Mr. Fetterman was elected in 2022 to represent Pennsylvania in the Senate after serving as the state’s lieutenant governor. Mr. Fetterman suffered a near-death stroke during the campaign and continued to campaign despite speech and auditory processing issues. Mr. Fetterman was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in March of 2023 for treatment of what his office described as “major depression.”That left some of those interviewed in the Journal story to question Mr. Fetterman’s fitness for office. Mr. Fetterman has not publicly commented about the Journal’s reporting. His office sent out a Summer Recap on Friday that was headlines with the senator celebrating the 21st Century Road to Housing Act becoming law.
