MAN ARRESTED WITH WEAPONS, DRUGS, FAKE BADGES Federal agents arrested a Bronx man for possessing more than 1,300 counterfeit badges from 35 separate law enforcement agencies, as well as police scanners and a small arms cache including hundreds of ammunition rounds, several handguns, and rifles with laser scopes, the authorities said yesterday.
According to court papers, the investigation into the Bronx man, Sergio Khorosh, began in late April after customs inspectors in San Francisco intercepted a package from Taiwan marked “badges.”
The package contained 100 counterfeit badges imprinted with the U.S. Marshal’s logo and with the stamp of the legitimate manufacturer on the back, officials said.
On Monday, an undercover agent with the Department of Homeland Security attempted to deliver the package to Mr. Khorosh, then executed a search warrant and found the illegal stash of goods and arrested him. Mr. Khorosh and his attorney could not be immediately reached yesterday.
In addition to fake badges, federal agents found $16,000 in cash, marijuana, cocaine, and New York Police Department paraphernalia, including uniform jackets.
