The former communications director for Governor Spitzer, Darren Dopp, filed a petition to quash a subpoena issued to him by a state investigating committee in the New York State Supreme Court late yesterday.

The New York State Standing Committee on Investigations and Government Operations proceeded “unlawfully and with breathtaking disregard” of the Legislature’s power and authority when they subpoenaed him in October, Mr. Dopp charges in the petition.

Mr. Dopp was subpoenaed in October for his role in using state police to investigate the state-subsidized travel of the Senate Republican leader, Joseph Bruno. He has previously refused to obey the subpoena, asserting that his information is privileged.
