A man who had stopped to help a stranded driver was struck and killed by a drunk driver early this morning in Brooklyn, police said.

At about 1:20 a.m., Alexey Bushuyev, 22, struck and killed 50-year-old Rafael Rafilov, who had pulled his car into the center of Prospect Expressway in Boro Park and exited to help the driver of a broken down vehicle, police said.

After barreling into the two men, Mr. Bushuyev then struck the green Lincoln Towncar of the stranded driver, propelling it into Rafilov’s vehicle, a white Lincoln Towncar, and then into a grey Honda, injuring a third person, police said.

Authorities pronounced Rafilov dead at the scene, police said. The other man who was directly stuck by Mr. Bushuyev was rushed to Maimonides Hospital and is in stable condition. Both Mr. Bushuyev and the third victim, who was not identified, were rushed to Lutheran Hospital in stable condition.

Police are charging Mr. Bushuyev with driving while intoxicated.
