A Queens man was crushed to death yesterday after a hit and run on the Grand Central Parkway, police officials said.

Christian Melendez, 28, was killed after exiting his car that had hit a guard rail and spun perpendicular into traffic early yesterday morning. The car from which Mr. Melendez escaped was broadsided, pushing it into him, police said.

The suspect from Roslyn, Long Island, Christopher Safini, 34, fled the scene but was arrested later, police said. He has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, police said.

Mr. Melendez was rushed to Mary Immaculate Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
