Italian Soccer Hero Baldo Dies at 93

Giuseppe Baldo, the last survivor of Italy’s team that won the gold medal in soccer at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, died Tuesday. He was 93.

Baldo was a midfielder on the Azzurri squad that beat Austria 2-1 in extra time in the Olympic final. Baldo also played seven seasons for Lazio in the Italian league.
