‘Mayor Compares Threat of Global Warming to Terrorism’
Kudos to Mayor Bloomberg for being one of the few elected officials who doesn’t make voters choose between the two major threats to civilization: terrorism and climate change [New York, “Mayor Compares Threat of Global Warming to Terrorism,” February 12, 2008]. Nothing contributes more to both than America’s continued reliance on petroleum, and there is no better way to counteract both threats than to reduce our oil dependence.
It’s time that became the paramount national priority for policymakers and entrepreneurs.
Legislation like last year’s energy bill and companies like Project Better Place are a good start — but this is an effort that will require the concerted participation of both elected officials and the public at large.
