Pretty Views for Henry Street
Collectors swarmed the exhibitor booths at the Art Dealers Association of America’s Art Show on Thursday, but they were not joined by the president of the Henry Street Settlement, Dale Burch, nor board members Elizabeth Reid and Jeffrey Tucker, and co-chairmen of the Art Show Com mittee, Byron and Anita Volz Wien. They held their posts at the entrance to the show, in front of the Barbara Gladstone Gallery booth, to thank guests for helping to raise $1.3 million for the settlement house.
“I probably won’t get in to see the art, but I do usually bid on the work on display at the front,” Ms. Burch said, referring to the Henri Matisse drawing on auction to benefit the settlement house.
Henry Street supporters don’t have to go uptown for culture. The agency’s 350-seat Harry de Jur Playhouse, where the Gotham Chamber Opera performs, is a gem. On the stage this weekend are works by the Progress Theater.
