Mexx is known for sexy, trendy gear that doesn’t break the bank. But a quick trip through the Fifth Avenue shop recently turned up a wrap of unexpectedly clever design. This gray wool and acrylic sweater ($59) has fitted sleeves and an exaggerated waist that can be tied, tossed, or wrapped in any way you like. When knotted in the front, the fabric produces a scarf-like effect. When wrapped around the chest, it’s a tight v-neck shirt – with a discreet knot in the back. And if you really want to have some fun, ask the Mexx salesperson to show you all the tricks.

Mexx, 650 Fifth Ave., between 52nd and 51st streets, 212-956-6506, and Mexx SoHo, 500 Broadway between Broome and Spring streets, 212-343-7954.
