SPRING TRAINING
Spring-training fever has spread to Scottsdale, Ariz., home of the San Francisco Giants for the month of March. The Cactus League’s series of 14 games at Scottsdale Stadium has already inspired plenty of vacation deals for visitors.
The Phoenician’s “Spring Training Taste of Luxury” package costs $505, double occupancy, with accommodations and daily breakfast. For $217, the Radisson Resort & Spa Scottsdale offers a “Bed and Breakfast Family Package” that includes accommodations plus breakfast for two adults and two children.

GOLF
Mexico, home to 151 golf courses, now boasts Tres Marias, a Jack Nicklaus-designed course and the future centerpiece of a 1,000-home resort community in the city of Morelia.
Another resort, Playa Mujeres, north of Cancun, will open this fall, with an ecofriendly design by Greg Norman.
Meanwhile, golfers can tee off at Palmilla, a hacienda style hideaway once favored by John Wayne, Desi Arnaz, and Bing Crosby, and famously tough to tackle, with its towering cacti, deep arroyos, and breathtaking views of the Sea of Cortez.

EXTREME SPORTS
EXtreme Cabarete, a 20-room boutique hotel and the first of the eXtreme hotels worldwide catering to daredevil sport enthusiasts, lies on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, directly on Kite Beach, one of the best places for the rapidly growing water sport of kiteboarding. LUXURY HOTEL
South Beach’s Sanctuary Hotel, which bills itself as “female friendly,” is now previewing its 30 ultra luxurious suites outfitted with 42-inch, high definition, flat-screen plasma TVs and Wenge kitchens.
For a limited time, a deluxe, mahogany-floored room for two costs $299 a night, including a couple’s spa treatment.
With a rooftop cocktail lounge and private beach club, the Sanctuary houses Sugo Restaurant, serving fare from the owners of Bal Harbor’s famous Carpaccio restaurant.
The hotel offers an ongoing 25% discount for solo women (a fast-growing segment of business travelers), as well as other amenities including jogging companions, double door locks, and a full-time doorman.
