CELEBRATING SPAIN Queen Sofia of Spain is the special guest at the annual black-tie Gold Medal Gala of the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute. The institute’s chairman, Oscar de la Renta, presents the award to this year’s honorees, Julio Iglesias, Henry Kissinger, and Beatrice Santo Domingo.The organization promotes awareness of Spanish culture and works to strengthen relations between America and Spanish-speaking countries. Monday, 7:30 p.m. cocktails, 8:30 p.m. dinner, the Pierre Hotel, 57 E. 57th St., between Park and Madison avenues, 212-868-4043, $1,500 and up.


AID TO SHAARE ZEDEK The American Committee for Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem honors actress Tovah Feldshuh with its Artist of Distinction award at its annual dinner. Ms. Feldshuh has earned four Tony nominations and one Emmy nomination and was also a regular on “Law and Order.” The dinner benefits Shaare Zedek’s department of pediatrics, which treats more than 16,000 young people every year.
