Agents of the Axis regime of Iran are roaming Europe attempting to assassinate peaceful opponents of the Islamic regime. As reported at page 1 of today’s New York Sun, the latest attempt was on July 16 against a dentist living in France, Arman Nouri. The Paris police acknowledged to the Sun that an investigation is ongoing. Back in April, the Sun reported on a similar attempt on the life of an immigration lawyer and Shiite Muslim cleric in Germany, Mehdi Haeri. It is ironical that these attacks are occurring around Europe even as the elites of that continent argue for a soft line against the Iranian regime.

The fact that the Iranian government, with its army and navy and missiles, feels threatened enough by a dentist and an immigration lawyer to be stirred to action is one of the inspiring things about the struggle for freedom. Something of the same spirit could be seen in a dispatch Wednesday from the official, government-controlled Iranian Republic News Agency. “The Islamic Revolution Court said on Wednesday that it reserved the right to take action against IRNA for broadcasting a statement from the banned Freedom Movement of Iran,” the news service reported. When a regime is threatening not only to assassinate dentists but to discipline its own propaganda arm for being too kind to the forces of freedom — well, the end is near. Michael Ledeen has reported in National Review Online about demonstrations this week in Iran’s major cities. The government cracked down with what Mr. Ledeen reports was unprecedented violence, arresting more than 1,000 and apparently killing several. The world will be safer if the forces of freedom in Iran succeed before the panicky mullahs get their hands on a nuclear weapon to use in the midst of their regime’s death spasms.
