Speedo’s spring/summer 2008 men’s collection has a strong fashion focus, with short, square-leg shorts ($34–$42) — which grew in popularity after Daniel Craig donned them in “Casino Royale” — making a strong showing. Board shorts ($30–$50) that are functional for the surf and the sand, and T-shirts ($22–$25) featuring bright graphics and retro Speedo designs also are prominent. Many of the pieces have a four-way stretch technology for a comfortable, secure fit, and most include speed-dry technology and ultraviolet protection. Available at the Sports Authority (636 Sixth Ave. at 19th Street, 212-929-8971, among other locations), and at speedo.com.

Fila’s White Line collection takes cues from country clubs of the 1970s, with strong Italian inspirations. Oversize stitching and leather accents on the shoes ($80), which come in four styles, complement wool blend jackets ($175) and ribbed cotton polos ($110) in Fila’s signature color combination of red, navy, and cream. The brand’s Street Focus collection incorporates activewear into everyday fashion, including high-top, patent leather sneakers ($90). Available at Fila (340 Madison Ave., between 43rd and 44th streets, 646-502-2100).

Zobha, a Sanskrit word meaning “grace, beauty, and brilliance,” is also the namesake of a new yoga line for women founded by Jamie Hanna. Launched earlier this month, the line pays special attention to the needs of women: 360-degree shelf bras in the tops provide extra support, a fabric blend of Supplex and Lycra wicks sweat, flat seams prevent chafing and itching, and cotton-lined bottoms ensure extra comfort. Earthy tones dominate the collection; prices are $16–$76. Zobha plans on launching a maternity line this fall, and menswear, children’s clothing, and accessories are also in the works. Available at zobha.com.
