Trump Unveils Skyscraper Presidential Library Set to Tower Over Miami Skyline

President Trump and his son Eric have officially unveiled the first renderings of his presidential library, a 47-story skyscraper that will tower over Miami and feature a spiral that lights up in red, white, and blue.The striking visuals, revealed in a two-minute video shared on Truth Social and X, showcase a massive structure with the name “Trump” emblazoned in gold near the top. The entrance to the library, which features a gold presidential seal, leads directly to a full-sized model of Air Force One, with other military aircraft — including a Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1) chopper, known as Marine One — featured on the second floor.Eric Trump, a trustee of the Trump Library Foundation, shared the renderings online, noting the immense effort his team at the Trump Organization has poured into the project.“This landmark on the water in Miami, Florida will stand as a lasting testament to an amazing man, an amazing developer, and the greatest President our Nation has ever known,” he wrote on X late Monday. “These images have never been seen by the public — until today. Enjoy!” Designed by the Miami-based architecture and engineering firm Bermello Ajamil, the library breaks from the traditional sprawling, campus-style designs of his predecessors. The skyscraper’s interior also leans heavily into the opulent aesthetics synonymous with the Trump brand. Mock-ups show a replica of the Oval Office adorned with the president’s preferred gold trimming and drapes. Visitors will reportedly enter via a golden escalator — a nod to his initial campaign announcement — and walk through halls replicating the White House’s West Colonnade, where presidents are often pictured walking with foreign leaders. Nearby will be a replica of the Rose Garden, which was first installed at the executive residence by Jacqueline Kennedy. Another key feature is a massive auditorium anchored by a giant golden statue of Trump raising his right fist, mimicking his reaction following the July 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. The facility is also expected to house a luxury Boeing 747 gifted by the Qatari government, which the administration previously announced would be donated to the library.In addition, there will be a huge ballroom, again featuring ornate gold chandeliers, and a terraced garden on top of the building featuring numerous fountains.The skyscraper design marks a stark architectural departure from recent presidential libraries. The George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas, utilizes a more traditional brick-and-limestone complex integrated into a 15-acre urban park on the Southern Methodist University campus. Similarly, the Barack Obama Presidential Center, which will open on Juneteenth in Chicago’s Jackson Park, is designed as a multi-building campus featuring a museum, a public library branch, and expansive community green spaces. Mr. Trump’s towering monument, by contrast, mirrors the commercial high-rises his real estate empire is known for. The library will be constructed on a 2.5-acre plot of land adjacent to the historic Freedom Tower, a Miami landmark where Cubans fleeing the communist revolution were once processed. The land formerly belonged to Miami Dade College and was utilized as an employee parking lot.The acquisition of the land sparked local controversy. Following a proposal by Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, the college’s board of trustees voted to transfer the real estate to the state, which then deeded it to the Trump Foundation. A lawsuit filed by local historian Dr. Marvin Dunn temporarily blocked the transfer, citing violations of Florida’s transparency laws and noting a county appraisal valued the plot at more than $67 million. The complaint was eventually dismissed after the board held a public revote.The foundation is reportedly aiming to raise nearly $1 billion to complete the ambitious project.“The Trump Presidential Library will be one of the most magnificent buildings in the world and a living testament to the indelible impact President Trump has made on America and its people,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle said in a statement to CNN.The library website currently offers little beyond a video showing the rendering and a donate button with special instructions for anyone wishing to donate more than $10,000.
