Celebrations

SUMMER SPARKS Looking for an electrifying way to celebrate the nation’s independence? There’s no better way than taking in the visual splendor of Macy’s annual 4th of July Fireworks.

Thirty-thousand shells will be fired in sync with the music of the New York Pops, who will play classic American tunes and patriotic standards at 9 p.m.

The spectacle in the sky will stretch from 10th to 23rd streets, and from the South Street Seaport to the Brooklyn Bridge. The display can be seen from any point in Brooklyn, Manhattan, or Queens that has an unobstructed view of the East River. Although watching from bridges that cross the East River is prohibited, the FDR Drive will be closed off for pedestrians between Houston and 42nd streets, beginning at 7 p.m.
