Red dots were popping up all over last night at the preview of the Art Show, the nonprofit fair put on by the Art Dealers Association of America that mixes contemporary with established 19th- and 20th-century artists. Artist Colin Brown, who just a few years ago was scraping by in a studio below Canal Street, was nearly sold out of his “Blackboards,” nighttime scenes of New York, at $50,000 each. More than 2,000 guests passed through, including Martha Stewart, Leonard Riggio, William Mack, and Samuel Keller. Most repeated murmur: “I love seeing the art.”
