LEAGUE LUNCHEON The Police Athletic League holds its 17th annual Women of the Year luncheon to raise money for its youth centers and programs. Honorees include “Sopranos” actress Lorraine Bracco and the president of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Susan Lyne. MORE THAN SCRIBBLES The Capuchin Food Pantries presents “Doodle for Hunger,” its sixth annual celebrity art auction, with the proceeds to support poor urban families. Fox 5’s Ernie Anastos emcees the event, with doodles available by Bette Midler, Yoko Ono, Billy Joel, Whoopi Goldberg, Carol Burnett, Robin Williams, and Donald Trump, among others. Tomorrow, 6 p.m., Tavern on the Green, Central Park West at West 67th Street, 212-279-6171, $150 in advance, $200 at the door.


HURRICANE HELP Panel discussions, film screenings, and musical concerts by Visible From Space and Zozo Afrobeat are part of the daylong benefit Bridging the Gulf: Thinking Through Katrina. All proceeds go to Scholarship America’s disaster relief fund, which benefits low-income college students displaced by the hurricane. Friday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m., CUNY Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Ave. at 34th Street, $35 suggested donation for all-day pass, $15 for panels, $15 for film screening, $20 for concert.
