COURTING A LADY The New York Baroque Dance Company presents a lesson and performance in “Courting an English Lady.” Costumed dancers present the secret code between the sexes in ballroom and stage dances. They perform dramatic, comedic, and country dances, accompanied by live music on period instruments. After being shown the proper and improper ways to woo a winsome heart, the audience is taught a country dance to the tune of Henry Purcell’s “The Old Bachelor.” Today, 12:30 p.m., World Financial Center, Winter Garden, between West Street and the Hudson River and Vesey and Liberty streets, 212-417-7000, free.
HARLEM DANCERS DOWNTOWN Dance Theatre of Harlem’s Dancing Through Barriers ensemble, which performed for President Bush last Monday, performs at the New York City Supreme Court rotunda. Today, 12:45 p.m., New York County Supreme Court Building, Supreme Court Rotunda, 60 Centre Street, free.
INTERNATIONAL BALLET GALA Leading dancers from American Ballet Theatre, Bolshoi Ballet, Complexions Incorporated, Kirov Ballet, Munich Ballet, New York City Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, and Tango Metropolis Argentina return to the New York State Theater in “Stars of the 21st Century.” The program includes Balanchine’s “Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux,” Twyla Tharp’s “Junk Music” duet from “Known by Heart,” Jerome Robbins’s “Dances at a Gathering,” and “La Cumparsita.” Monday, 7:30 p.m., Lincoln Center, New York State Theater, 20 Lincoln Center, Columbus Avenue and 63rd Street, 212-721-6500, $20-$150.
