CONTEMPORARY QUIXOTE The translator of the critically praised 2003 HarperCollins edition of “Don Quixote,” Edith Grossman, lectures about interpreting Cervantes’s 400-year-old Spanish text. REDISCOVERING TROY Actor Simon Prebble reads passages from “The Iliad” at a lecture given by classicist Caroline Alexander. She’ll discuss what the fields of linguistics and archeology have contributed to the study of Homeric Troy. BRITISH BUILDINGS The building design adviser of Britain’s National Trust, Edward Diestelkamp,lectures on the organization’s acquisition of two examples of British Modernist design. Architect Patrick Gwynne designed the Homewood in Surrey in 1937 for his parents. It was opened to public in 2004. The other property to be discussed, 2 Willow Road in Hampstead, was designed the same year by modernist architect Erno Goldfinger. The Royal Oak Foundation sponsors the talk.
