TICKER-TAPE TALK City archivist Kenneth Cobb gives an illustrated lecture on the history of New York City’s ticker-tape parades.There have been more than 200 in the last century, bestowed on royalty, celebrities, sports stars, and soldiers as they proceeded down Broadway’s “Canyon of Heroes.” The talk is sponsored by the Downtown Alliance, which paid homage to each ticker-tape parade with a different granite marker installed along the sidewalk on Broadway to City Hall from the Battery. TIGER AND SANGER Anthropologist Lionel Tiger and the chairman of the International Planned Parenthood Council, Alex Sanger, ask, “Where Are The Men?” in a discussion on the future of family life. ELEANOR AND MORE A panel of historians who have written about Jacqueline Kennedy and Eleanor Roosevelt gather to discuss those first ladies as New York residents. The author of “Kennedy Weddings” (St. Martin’s Press) and “Jackie: The Clothes of Camelot” (St. Martin’s Press), Jay Mulvaney, serves as moderator.
