By the time you finish Thanksgiving dinner with your family, you either want to serve the pie a la mode or throw it a la the Three Stooges. In a bid for peace and harmony this holiday season, here are some pies for culinary, not comedy, delights.
THE LITTLE PIE COMPANY
Although the Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie ($26) remains the center of attention at the Little Pie Company, a 10-inch pumpkin pie ($18) is available in keeping with Thanksgiving tradition. Ingredients are selected for their seasonal availability, and the Pie Company is renowned for its wonderful crusts. The Little Pie Company was created in homage to homemade pies, but it’s a rare mother who can make one this tasty. 407 W 14th St., between Ninth and Tenth avenues, and 424 W 43rd St., between Ninth and Tenth avenues, 877-872-7437, www.littlepiecompany.com.
CITY BAKERY
At $35 each, the pies here cost more than at a typical grocery store, but that’s a small price to pay to be the hero on Thanksgiving Day. The rich pumpkin filling and decadent crust is hardly what the Pilgrims had in mind when they hunkered down to give thanks in subzero New England, but times have changed for the better.

FRESH DIRECT
Fresh Direct has a number of ideas for those wishing to prepare Thanksgiving dinner via a high-speed Internet connection. Everything from turkey and stuffing to dessert can be sent individually or as a package (a complete Thanksgiving dinner serving four to six is $139). This means less time cooking and cleaning, more time gorging and napping. The delivery and pickup grocer has some very appetizing pies on offer, ranging from the tried-and-true (pumpkin) to the outlandish (apple volcano). It also offers treats for the Southern palate, including sweet potato ($9.99) and pecan pie ($10.99).

ZABAR’S
The grand dame of Upper West Side cuisine has plenty of pies, and anything else you might want to pick up at the last minute, too. The pumpkin ($9.99) and pecan pie ($8.99) make braving the crowds eminently worth it. Zabar’s is open on Thanksgiving (and every other day of the year).
