While initial reports are that those races will proceed as scheduled, backup plans are being discussed should it be necessary for alter venues.Pirelli, the tire supplier for Formula 1, cancelled its scheduled tire testing in Bahrain.Formula 1 has long expanded into the Middle East as part of its global growth strategy with races in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Abu Dhabi on the annual calendar. But the present conflict serves as a reminder that global expansion carries political risks.Winter Paralympics GamesThe conflict breached the symbolic Olympic truce that urges nations to suspend all military activity until March 15. Though the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina have concluded, more than 600 athletes from around the world are gathering in Italy for the Winter Paralympic Games.Iran and Israel each qualified a single athlete to compete in the Paralympic Games. Abolfazl Khatibi from Iran is a 23-year-old para-cross-country skier, while Sheina Vaspi, 24, from Israel is competing in para-Alpine ski events.
