A New Jersey healthcare executive has been named the new president and CEO of the financially-strapped Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers.

Henry Amoroso will be St. Vincent’s fourth chief executive since 2004, replacing Guy Sansone as early as July, pending approval from a federal bankruptcy judge.

The hospital system, anchored by St. Vincent’s Hospital Manhattan in Greenwich Village, declared bankruptcy two years ago.

Mr. Amoroso, who heads a New Jersey non-profit, Catholic Health and Human Services, is charged with steering St. Vincent’s toward stronger financial footing, members of the board of directors said in a statement.

Part of that goal will be accomplished by constructing a new alldigital and “green” St. Vincent’s Manhattan, they said.
