No date has been announced for the wedding of French President Sarkozy’s former wife Cecilia and her off-again-on-again boyfriend Richard Attias, but the bride will wear Versace. As will the groom. The Italian fashion house said yesterday that Mr. Attias and his fiancée, now known as Cecilia Ciganer-Albeniz, “have chosen to wear Versace for the happy occasion of their wedding, which will take place in New York later this month.”
Versace said the former French first lady would wear an Atelier Versace dress and Attias a classic Versace two-button tailored suit.
“All of the immediate wedding party has also chosen to wear Versace,” the company said.
A Versace spokeswoman in Milan, Cristina Colli, said she could not provide a date or location for the wedding.
The French magazine Point de Vue reported yesterday that the marriage would take place on March 22.
A call to New York-based events organizer Attias was not immediately returned.
Ms. Ciganer-Albeniz left Sarkozy, the then-presidential hopeful, in May 2005 to live with the Moroccan-born Mr. Attias, but returned to Mr. Sarkozy’s side in the run-up to the French vote in May of last year.
Ms. Ciganer-Albeniz and Mr. Sarkozy divorced in October, and he married Italian-born model-turned-singer Carla Bruni on February 2.
