Three students from a high school in Chelsea were stabbed by a fellow student near the school as classes let out yesterday afternoon, police and education officials said.
The four teens are students at the Bayard Rustin High School for the Humanities, located several blocks from where the attack took place: on Eighth Avenue near 16th Street. The victims, ages 15, 16, and 17, are in stable condition at St. Vincent’s Hospital, and the stab wounds were “superficial,” a spokeswoman for the Department of Education, Marge Feinberg, said.
Police said they are still looking for the suspect, who mixed into the crowd and ran from the scene.
Ms. Feinberg said the department is cooperating with the police investigation.
