Police critically shot a teenager outside of his home after responding to an emergency call placed by his mother, police officials said.
A woman, who was not identified, called police at about 7:30 p.m., and told them her son had a gun inside of their home at 590 Gates Ave. in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, police said.
Once police arrived at the home, the victim, whom police said was either 18 or 19 years old, confronted the officers, and they opened fire, police said.
It was not clear if the victim had a gun, police said.
