Obama Now Says ‘No Evidence’ of Extraterrestrial Aliens After Telling Podcast Host They Likely Exist

President Obama now says he has seen “no evidence” of aliens after telling a podcast host over the weekend that they are real.Brian Tyler Cohen hosted Mr. Obama for a conversation posted on his YouTube channel on Saturday. Their wide-ranging talk spanned more than 45 minutes but the comments on aliens drew the most notice.During a speed round of questions, Mr. Cohen asked if aliens are real.“They’re real, but I haven’t seen them,” Mr. Obama replied. “And they’re not being kept in, what is it? Area 51.”“There’s no underground facility, unless there’s this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the president of the United States,” Mr. Obama added.Mr. Cohen followed up by asking what the first question Mr. Obama wanted answered when he became president. “Where are the aliens?” Mr. Obama replied with a smile and chuckle.The “they’re real” comments lead to dramatic headlines and Mr. Obama posted a statement on Instagram on Sunday evening to “clarify” his comments.“I was trying to stick with the spirit of the speed round, but since it’s gotten attention let me clarify,” Mr. Obama said in an Instagram post. “Statistically, the universe is so vast that the odds are good there’s life out there. But the distances between solar systems are so great that the chances we’ve been visited by aliens is low, and I saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us. Really!”There have been UFO conspiracy theories around Area 51 for decades, including claims that the American government is hiding evidence of aliens there. The government installation — officially known as Groom Lake — spans over 4,500 square miles of restricted Nevada desert and serves as a testing ground for classified aircraft and weapons systems.A classified military aircraft crashed on public land just outside the installation in September. UFO enthusiasts say the government did not provide a comprehensive explanation for what happened and quickly covered up the crash site.Congress has held multiple hearings on unidentified anomalous phenomena. A task force looking into the declassification of federal secrets reported in September that the government has not provided Americans with adequate information on the existence and effectiveness of programs related to UAPs, which are more commonly known as unidentified flying objects, or UFOs.The Pentagon launched a website a few years ago for the public to report UAPs. The All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office says it continues to examine UAP sightings but there is no evidence of extraterrestrial technology in government hands.
