A new partnership between Laura Mercier Cosmetics and Henri Bendel is bringing longer eyelashes to the masses: The cosmetics company recently opened Lash Bar inside the Fifth Avenue department store.

Selling the brand’s new faux lashes — available in full, center, or corner styles — the slim station is adjacent to the Laura Mercier makeup counter. The $20 a pair price includes a professional application and a lash lesson to help with at-home attempts at lengthening. Each pair is good for about five wears. Customers who bring in their own set of fakes can pay $15 for a lesson and application.

The president and chief executive of Laura Mercier, Sharon Collier, said Ms. Mercier, the company’s founder, has been noticing the growing popularity of lash extension products and services — and decided the timing was right to introduce the new products. And while Henri Bendel’s customers had long sought out false eyelashes, they “admitted they had no real idea of how to apply them,” according to the store’s senior vice president and general merchandising manager of beauty, Claudia Lucas.

During my visit to the Lash Bar, my makeup artist focused more on application than advice. But when I asked questions about replicating his technique, he happily shared his secrets. I left with solid knowledge and lots of attitude, thanks to my mile-long lashes.
