In an election year, political trinkets are must-have accessories. And there are plenty of ways to adorn yourself – even if you’re unaffiliated.
Designer Carolyn Rafaelian – the talent behind the jewelry line Alex and Ani – has created gold pins in the shapes of donkeys and elephants decorated with Swarovski crystals (www.alexandani.com). At $48, one of these red-white-and-blue pins might be just the thing to win over an undecided voter.
For loyalists willing to make a commitment, there are plenty of high-end political baubles from Aaron Basha (680 Madison Ave., 212-935-1960). The 18-karat gold charms in the shapes of elephants and donkeys – painted in French enamel – are $1,900. And a set of cufflinks of the same design runs $4,200.
On the lapels of Republican women-about-town are gold pins in the shape of the letter “W” with a small crystal at the base.
But those are for the party faithful. For nonpartisans, Links of London has a “VOTE” charm bracelet in 18-karat gold for $1,190 or sterling silver $360 (535 Madison Ave., 800-210-0079). Understated, but a statement nonetheless.
