Trump Says Susie Wiles Is Out as Chief of Staff, Names Stephen Miller as Her Replacement

Days after Democrats’ sweeping victory in the midterm elections, President Trump is making a major change: replacing White House chief of staff Susie Wiles with top aide Stephen Miller.In a post on Truth Social on Friday, Mr. Trump wrote that Mr. Miller, whom he called one of his “most trusted advisors,” will take over as chief of staff on November 9. “Susie Wiles, who has done an outstanding job, will be moving over to the Trump Political Operation. I want to thank her for her service as Chief of Staff — She has done a great job!” the president said. Ms. Wiles confirmed the move in a post on X, writing that Friday would be her last day as chief of staff. “Serving President Trump in the White House has been the honor of a lifetime,” Ms. Wiles wrote. “I’m so proud to have been a part of what we’ve accomplished together from securing our border and cutting taxes to strengthening our economy and putting America First.”Ms. Wiles added that her “commitment to the president” and “the mission” will “never” change. Last month, Mr. Trump denied reports that he was looking for a new chief of staff. He told reporters on October 16 that there was “zero chance” of Ms. Wiles being replaced.“The Susie Wiles story was a fake story. She’s been incredible,” he said. “She’s smart. She’s tough. She just went through a lot with the cancer surgery and the whole thing, and she fully recovered. She’s phenomenal … So, they made up fake news.”A White House source told the Daily Wire’s Mary Margaret Olohan that Mr. Miller is a “wartime consigliere” and that his elevation to chief of staff “probably sends the best possible message to the base.”The shake-up comes as Mr. Trump prepares for Democrats to take over the House and Senate. The incoming House Oversight chairman, Robert Garcia, said in a statement after the election that Democrats plan to investigate the president’s family, “corporate corruption,” the Department of Homeland Security, ICE, and the Trump Administration’s handling of the Epstein files.While Democrats prepare to launch investigations, some Republicans and conservatives have been trying to distance themselves from the president, blaming him for their heavy losses.
