Rob Gronkowski Rejects Turning Point USA Connection Ahead of Patriots Hall of Fame Induction

Days before he will receive one of the biggest honors of his football career, former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is defending himself in the political arena.Mr. Gronkowski, a four-time Super Bowl champion, was photographed on Election Day in New Hampshire with his girlfriend, Camille Kostek, posing with voters and signing merchandise outside a tent bearing the logo of Turning Point USA. The images quickly circulated on social media, prompting questions about whether the former NFL star had aligned himself with the conservative political organization.Mr. Gronkowski moved to clarify the situation in a statement posted to his Instagram story, saying that neither he nor Kostek was affiliated with or endorsed by the group. “It has been upsetting and eye opening to see the narratives around my visit to NH on Election Day with Camille,” he said in his statement. “In regard to the images and videos circulating we are not endorsed by or affiliated with Turning Point USA.”A rep for Turning Point has since confirmed to CBS News that Mr. Gronkowski is not part of their group but did walk past a branded table. Turning Point USA, founded by conservative activist Charlie Kirk, became a prominent force in Republican politics. Mr. Kirk was shot and killed in 2025, and his widow, Erika Kirk, assumed leadership of the organization after his death. The election day appearance generated attention because Mr. Gronkowski has generally avoided publicly identifying with a political party. When asked over the years about his personal political leanings, Mr. Gronkowski has repeatedly maintained that he prefers not to take partisan sides, opting instead to support general civic duties like voting and civic participation.Though he was photographed posing alongside local Republican candidates, including GOP gubernatorial nominee Kelly Ayotte in Bedford, local officials confirmed that Mr. Gronkowski urged citizens across party lines to cast their ballots. The controversy comes just days before Mr. Gronkowski is to be inducted into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame during Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers in Foxborough. His quarterback Tom Brady will be in attendance, broadcasting the game for FOX. The franchise will also celebrate its 2016 Super Bowl championship team.Mr. Gronkowski said he was looking forward to the festivities and the induction, saying “it means the world” to him.“Just to be able to be recognized with the greats that were all before me, that’s what it’s all about,” he told reporters on a zoom call. “It’s a special category, to be inducted into the Hall of Fame just to be with the greats, with the guys that set the bar, set the standard … just to be recognized in that quarter, in that category is an absolute honor, an absolute thrill.”Patriots’ owner Robert Kraft will be unable to attend after recent back surgery. “RKK, I love him. We’ve had a great relationship since day one,” Mr. Gronkowski said. “He loved my antics on the stage when I got drafted and boom, that’s when we first hit it off. He made me feel comfortable in my skin.”Mr. Brady, who won six of his seven Super Bowl titles in New England, said Sunday will be “emotional” for him as he broadcasts his first game from his former home stadium. He said he hopes to help viewers “to really understand what the Patriot organization is all about, and to convey that to the fans in a way where I’m not like talking about myself — I’m really talking about this awesome program that’s been built.”
