SHOSTAKOVICH’S STRINGS The Manhattan String Quartet performs Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 13 in B-flat minor, String Quartet No. 14 in F-sharp major, and String Quartet No. 15 in Eflat minor. The performance is the last in a series of concerts of Shostakovich’s 15 quartets. Tuesday, 7:30 p.m., St. Bartholomew’s Church, Park Avenue at 51st Street, 212-378-0248, $20 general, $15 seniors and students.
BEST OF BRITTEN Tenor Ian Bostridge is the soloist in a concert of works by Benjamin Britten. The program includes a series of canticles that treat texts from a wide variety of sources, including the Elizabethan writer Francis Quarles, a 14th-century Chester Mystery Play, and poets Edith Sitwell and T.S. Eliot. The concert also includes “Winter Words,” based on the pastoral poetry of Thomas Hardy.
