BAROQUE EVENING The Choir of the Church of Saint Luke in the Fields performs “The Birth of the Oratorio,” a program featuring 17th-century composer Giacomo Carissimi’s “Jepthe.” The concert also includes Carissimi’s “Balthazar” and “Jonas,” as well as Charpentier’s “Filius prodigus” (“The Prodigal Son”). David Shuler conducts the choir, which will be accompanied by an ensemble of period instruments. Before the performance, Raymond Erickson gives a lecture. Tonight, 7 p.m. lecture, 8 p.m. concert, Church of Saint Luke in the Fields, 487 Hudson St. at Grove Street, 212-414-9419, $30 general, $20 seniors and students.
