RANGOON, Burma — A group of protesters carrying placards and chanting slogans staged a rare demonstration yesterday in downtown Rangoon, calling for lower prices and improved health and education. The protest ended peacefully after about 30 minutes, but at least one demonstrator was taken away by police, as were three local journalists, two of whom work for foreign outlets, and one for a Burma publication.
