Gwyneth Paltrow Bucks Hollywood’s Israel Boycott To Front Herzliya Luxury Tower

While many in Hollywood have chosen to boycott Israeli cultural and economic projects, actress and entrepreneur Gwyneth Paltrow is leaning in, becoming the new face of a luxury development at Herzliya.The Academy Award-winning actress is featured in a promotional video, released over the weekend, for an upscale apartment complex, 51 PARK, being developed by an Israeli real estate group, Aviv Melisron.The video opens in New York City, with Ms. Paltrow setting out for a morning run through Central Park. The clip then cuts to Ms. Paltrow leaving her building a second time, declaring that “There’s a reason the world’s most iconic buildings are by a park.” She steps into a chauffeured car and gives the driver an address: “51 Park.” He asks, “New York?” To which she replies, “Herzliya, Israel.”The clip was shared online by the advertising firm behind the campaign, which explained that Ms. Paltrow — “a figure who effortlessly embodies international elegance, a premium lifestyle, and uncompromising quality” — was the perfect fit to “bring this architectural masterpiece to the Israeli audience.”The video is set in New York City in an effort to bridge the gap “between the world’s most iconic park side residences and the future of luxury living” at Herzliya, the firm added.Ms. Paltrow’s father, the film producer Bruce Paltrow, was Ashkenazi Jewish, and she was raised in a household that observed both Judaism and Christianity. The actress has been outspoken in condemning antisemitism and has voiced support for the Israeli hostages kidnapped by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023. After six hostages were murdered by their captors following 11 months in Gaza, Ms. Paltrow shared a statement on Instagram: “To the families of each hostage whose life was stolen, I have thought of you every day for 11 months, but today I send you my heart.”Ms. Paltrow’s partnership with Aviv Melisron drew praise from an Israeli writer and influencer, Hen Mazzig. “Putting your name anywhere near Israel is supposed to be a career risk now. That is the entire goal of the pressure, to make basic association feel radioactive,” he wrote on X, noting that Ms. Paltrow “understood the room and signed on anyway.” He added: “The biggest stars usually turn out to be the ones who stopped performing fear.”
