Iran, Muslim Brotherhood Celebrate Midterm Election Results

The Muslim Brotherhood is congratulating Dr. Abdul El-Sayed for his win in the Michigan Senate race and Iran is celebrating the overall midterm election results.Senior Muslim Brotherhood figure Abdul Mawgoud Dardery praised Dr. El-Sayed’s win, describing it as a model for Muslims around the world to work from “within the political system” on behalf of the Islamic world,” i24NEWS correspondent Ariel Oseran reported.Dr. El-Sayed was accused during the campaign of lying about his family’s ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. Dr. El-Sayed said he nor his family had any ties to the Muslim Brotherhood during a “Meet the Press” interview, but resurfaced social media posts from his maternal half-sister raised questions about that claim. “Had an amazing talk with my mom about her activism in the Muslim Brotherhood during the early 70s when she was in college,” Eman Abdelhadi said in a 2012 Twitter post. In another 2012 post, Ms. Abdelhadi, a University of Chicago assistant professor, stated “My family has long been MB.”Iran praised the election results as a defeat of President Trump. The Tehran Times article was headlined “Operation Midterms Hammer” — a play on the name of the 2025 American military operation that targeted three Iranian nuclear facilities. The X account of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, posted a series of post-election messages on Wednesday. “The Great Satan [the US] wants the surrender of the Iranian nation. The slightest inclination toward submission would cause the immense capital acquired through the blessings brought by the blood of our martyrs and the sacrifices of the entire Iranian nation to be lost,” one post stated.“The process of the US’s collapse has accelerated,” another post stated. Ayatollah Khamenei has not been seen in public since he was named as the regime’s supreme leader.Iran’s top security official, Mohsen Rezaei, took credit for the midterm election results. “Iran handed Trump a strategic defeat on the battlefield and in the Hormuz, and a political defeat in Washington,” Mr. Rezaei reportedly said. “Meanwhile, Americans got stuck with the bill. Anyone who takes on Iran will pay the price, from the battlefield to their own doorstep,” he added.“Americans said NO TO WAR, and we endorse this message,” Iran’s parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, stated in an X post. “If the US govt betrays their public will to serve international paymasters and blackmailers, it will learn our NO comes with a Nightmare,” he added.Neither Fatah nor Hamas have publicly commented on the election results but there were some celebrations in Gaza. Their media outlets highlighted the success of candidates of Arab and Muslim descent, including Egyptian-born Dr. Adam Hamawy, who won a House seat in New Jersey.
