Brooklyn Cyclones ‘Bat Persons’ Win ‘Politically Correct’ Game

A minor league team from Brooklyn played Tuesday night in what is being dubbed a “politically correct” baseball game.
The Brooklyn Cyclones, a class A affiliate of the New York Mets, played the Lowell Spinners in Lowell, Mass. The local CBS affiliate, WBZ-TV, reported that, in a bow to political correctness, the first, second, and third basemen were called “base persons.” Batboys became “bat persons.”
Shortstop was referred to as the “vertically challenged stop,” the TV station reported. To spare the feelings of players, errors were not announced to the fans.
The Cyclones won the game, beating Lowell by a score of 9–5.
