A man crossing the street in Midtown yesterday was killed after being hit by a taxi and then run over by a bus, police officials said. The 69-year-old victim, whose identity was being held by police pending family notification, was hit by the taxi at about 3:15 p.m. while crossing 57th Street, between Eighth and Ninth avenues, police said.
The collision with the taxi caused the victim to fall into oncoming traffic, where a bus struck him.
He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
