NEW YORK — A woman blasted a female acquaintance with a bullet when a verbal spat turned violent after they left a trendy nightspot early Saturday, police said.
Police said the two were riding in a caravan of three cars after leaving the Pizza Bar shortly before 4 a.m. The watering hole, in downtown Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, is known for late-night slices and a psychedelic look.
The women exchanged words, and the gunfire erupted about a block away from the bar, police said.
Managers of the Pizza Bar did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment early Saturday.
The 23-year-old victim, wounded in the lower torso, was in stable condition later Saturday morning at St. Vincent’s Hospital, police said.
Police were looking for the 27-year-old suspect, who fled after the shooting. Investigators were interviewing three witnesses.
Police did not release the victim’s or suspect’s names.
