PETA Gets In on Mocking Kash Patel for New Hiring Practice Allowing Applicants Who Had Sex With Animals

The animal rights group PETA is jumping on the bandwagon of mocking FBI director Kash Patel after he made the decision to allow those who committed bestiality apply for jobs at his agency. Mr. Patel said Wednesday that those who were forced to have sex with animals should not be banned from applying to work for him. Mr. Patel changed the FBI’s hiring practices earlier this year when he allowed those who had engaged in prostitution, solicitation, and bestiality to apply to work at his agency. Previously, such activities automatically disqualified someone from being considered for a position at the FBI. But no longer. On Wednesday, Mr. Patel said that he personally made the decision to change hiring practices after a subordinate brought the issue to his attention. He was met with skepticism from both Republicans and Democrats. By the end of the day, PETA began telling its supporters to contact senators after Mr. Patel’s defense of his decision went viral. “Bestiality is deliberate, despicable sexual violence against a vulnerable victim,” the group wrote in a statement Wednesday, telling supporters to get in touch with senators on the Judiciary Committee, which oversees the FBI. “It should not be treated as conduct that can simply be overlooked when determining whether someone is fit to exercise federal authority. How low can you go?”PETA wrote that FBI employees are entrusted with enforcing federal law, conducting sensitive investigations, and protecting the public” and that any person “seeking that responsibility should not be someone who has raped a donkey, a dog, or another victim any more than they should be allowed to rape a child.”“Allowing applicants with a history of an aggressive sexual perversion like bestiality to advance through the hiring process is unconscionable,” PETA wrote. During an oversight committee hearing of the FBI at the Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, one Republican — Senator John Kennedy — spent much of his time pressing Mr. Patel about the issue. Mr. Patel clearly was growing frustrated that he had to continue answering questions about his changes to hiring standards.“If Joe participated in bestiality — not as the animal, but as the human — don’t you think he oughta be disqualified?” Mr. Kennedy asked hypothetically. “How do you involuntarily do it?” Mr. Patel responded to say that victims forced to commit bestiality are often made to do “degrading acts of all kinds” for the gratification of those who trafficked them. Mr. Patel still insisted that it was not his idea to change the hiring standards. “When you saw ‘bestiality’ … the person who recommended it, why didn’t you just say: ‘What planet did you parachute in from?’” Mr. Kennedy asked.
