Chuck Taylors seem like the ultimate comfort shoe – relaxed, casual, perfect for weekends. But, as anyone who has ever tried to walk a significant distance in Converse sneakers has discovered, they’re not exactly comfortable: The shoes offer about as much arch support as flip-flops. This summer, however, Converse has finally come to the aid of the flat-footed with the new Premiere All Star, a sneaker that looks at first glance like a regular Chuck Taylor low-top, but in fact features innovations such as a dual-traction outsole and a cushy inside liner with arch support. The shoes come in a variety of colors in canvas ($50) and in weekday-appropriate Nubuck ($50-$65); they will be available in leather in the fall. Available at www.converse.com.
