Texas Dad Fatally Shot His British Daughter After Argument About Donald Trump, UK Inquiry Hears

A Texas man reportedly argued with his British daughter about President Trump shortly before fatally shooting her in the chest, according to testimony at a new inquiry.Lucy Harrison was visiting her father at Prosper, Texas in January 2025 when she was killed. The incident occurred the same day she was scheduled to return to her home in the United Kingdom.Texas police investigated the death, but dropped a criminal case against Kris Harrison last June after a grand jury failed to indict him. The Cheshire Coroner’s Court in England opened its own investigation into the 23-year-old’s death.Harrison’s boyfriend, Sam Littler, was also on the visit to America and was in the home at the time of the shooting. He told the coroner’s court on Monday that the argument over Mr. Trump took place hours before they were due to fly back to London.“Kris and Lucy ended up having quite a big argument which led to Lucy running upstairs and being upset,” Mr. Littler told the court.Mr. Littler testified that at one point Harrison asked her father how he’d feel if she was sexually assaulted. Mr. Harrison allegedly replied that he had two other daughters, so it would not upset him that much.Mr. Littler then testified that shortly before they were due to leave for the airport, Mr. Harrison took his daughter into a first-floor bedroom and seconds later a shot rang out.Mr. Harrison had previously been to rehab for alcohol addiction, the court heard. Mr. Harrison did not attend the UK hearing, but admitted in a statement to the court that he had relapsed on the day of the shooting and had drunk a box of wine.Mr. Harrison claimed he and his daughter had been watching a news story on TV about gun crime when he told her he had a gun and asked her if she wanted to see it.He said they went into the bedroom so he could show her a Glock 9mm semi-automatic handgun and it accidentally went off as he pulled it out.Coroner’s courts in the UK investigate deaths to determine the cause but are not trials aimed at assigning blame.Mr. Harrison’s lawyer at the hearing, Ana Samuel, said the proceeding was “more akin to a criminal investigation than a fact-finding inquiry.” She asked the coroner, Jacqueline Devonish, to recuse herself over concerns she was biased.Ms. Devonish refused to step aside and is expected to deliver her conclusions on Wednesday, according to the BBC.“Lucy was life. She lived it fiercely and fearlessly, not being afraid to feel all that life has to offer,” Harrison’s mother and brother said in a statement released by Cheshire Police after her death. “Lucy unashamedly loved — she had a huge capacity to love and be loved.”
