U.S., Iran Exchange Fresh Strikes as Trump Warns: ‘It Will Get Much Worse’

The United States military carried out attacks against Iran for the second night in a row leading to retaliatory strikes by Tehran on American bases at Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait. President Trump warned on Wednesday that Iran would be attacked again after calling the regime “cancer” and “scum.”The U.S. Central Command said it completed an “additional round of strikes” against Iran overnight local time “to further degrade Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping and innocent civilian mariners in the Strait of Hormuz.”Approximately 90 Iranian military targets were attacked, including air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities, and military logistics infrastructure along Iran’s coastline. “U.S. forces remain vigilant, lethal, and prepared to execute operations directed by the Commander in Chief,’ CENTCOM said in a statement on Thursday morning. “This is in retribution for yesterday’s bombings of ships by Iran. If it happens again it will get much worse,” President Trump said in a post on Truth Social. Iranian media reported that an American attack hit a railway bridge in Aqqala northeast of Tehran, while CNN reported that a maritime control tower in the port city of Chabahar had been hit. Iran meanwhile said it fired “a large number of various types of army kamikaze drones” at American bases in Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain. The regime’s top negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, warned the U.S. on X that it still has “yet to learn that bullying and breaking its commitments no longer come without a cost. Let me be clear: If you strike, you will be struck back.”“Don’t flail around pointlessly, or you’ll sink even deeper: the Strait of Hormuz will only open with ‘Iranian arrangements,’ not American threats,” he added. Mr. Trump also threatened to impose a naval blockade, saying: “We may put it back, the blockade, and it’ll only be a blockade for Iran.” The president also said on Wednesday evening that Iran called him to make a deal. “They called a little while ago, they want to make a deal so badly. I just don’t know if they’re worthy of making a deal,” he told reporters before boarding Air Force One back to the U.S. from Turkey. Mr. Trump also warned that “every time they hit us we’re going to hit them twenty(fold).” Iran’s health ministry said 14 people had been killed in American attacks in the past two days. This round of escalation began when Iran attacked several commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz earlier this week. The U.S. responded by re-imposing sanctions on Iran’s oil and attacking over 80 targets belonging to the regime on Wednesday, including IRGC vessels. The IRGC in return attacked American military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait not long after.
